President, PM pay rich tributes to Abdul Jalil

President M Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina Friday paid their rich tributes to Awami League (AL) advisory council member and former general secretary Md Abdul Jalil by placing wreaths on his coffin at South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the city, reports BSS. Earlier, the President attended the 3rd Namaj-e-Janaza of the veteran politician at the south plaza. After the Namaj-e-Janaza, President Rahman paid his respect by placing wreath on the coffin of his old associate. The President was followed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to place wreath on the coffin. Speaker Abdul Hamid Advocate and Deputy Leader of Jatiya Sangsad Sayeda Sajeda Chowdhury also placed wreaths. Later, a guard of honour was presented as a last respect to the late freedom fighter and one of the organisers of War of Liberation. Abdul Jalil also a current member of parliament breathed his last on Wednesday at Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital at the age of 74.
