President, PM stress maintaining chain of command in PGR

President Abdul Hamid asked Saturday members of the President Guard Regiment (PGR) to discharge their duties with sincerity maintaining the chain of command, reports UNB.
"I hope you'll be fully loyal to your chain of command in discharging your duties and responsibilities, and this will help improve the standard of the regiment," he said.
The President said this while addressing the Darbar of PGR at Shahid Captain Hafiz Hall at the PGR headquarters in Dhaka Cantonment on the occasion of its 39th founding anniversary.
President Hamid further said, "Keep in your mind that your sacrifice in discharging your duties and responsibilities, bestowed upon you by the nation and country, will always be remembered in the nation's history."
He said on one side the duty bestowed upon the PGR is matter of pride and it is very important on the other.
"Every day the pressure of your work has been increasing. To reduce the pressure, the manpower of the regiment has been increased. I have a plan to strengthen further the regiment analysing the extensiveness of duties in the future. My attention as President will remain focused on your welfare and development considering your duties and dignity," he added
Later, the President signed the visitor's book and joined a photo session with PGR officials.
The Army chief, the PGR Commander, high military and civil officials were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina said Saturday that upholding the chain of command is essential in conducting a disciplined force and an effective command channel in the Army can help accomplish any task.
The PM was addressing a function at the Headquarters of the President Guard Regiment (PGR) at Dhaka Cantonment marking PGR's 39th founding anniversary.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established the PGR on July 5, 1975 to ensure highest security of the VVIPs, including the President and the PM.
Hasina expressed her firm belief that any task could be done in an efficient, disciplined and effective manner if all guards remain loyal and respectful to their commanders.
She also voiced her optimism that they would be able to march ahead keeping full trust in their leadership and work together with integrity and sincerity in ensuring personal security of the head of state and head of the government maintaining the mentality of self-sacrifice.
In this regard, Sheikh Hasina directed the commanders to give attention always to the subordinates under their commands.
Stressing the need for training the members of the armed forces, the Prime Minister said there is no alternative to training as it enhances skills and efficiency as well as helps increase professional knowledge.
Hasina urged them to continue imparting training and professional practice on regular basis and said her government, as a pioneer of digital Bangladesh, wants to ensure utilisation of ICTs in all sectors.
