President praises research activities of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh

President Zillur Rahman Sunday praised the various research activities of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh as it basically conducts research on Man and Nature of the country, reports UNB.
The President lauded the activities of the society when a three-member delegation of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh led by its President Prof Sirajul Islam paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban.
The delegation included General Secretary of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh Prof Mahfuza Khanam and its Council Member Prof Nazrul Islam.
During the meeting, President Zillur Rahman said that the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh had been silently conducting various research works especially on man and nature of the country. This deserves high appreciation, he added.
The delegation members apprised the President of the various ongoing activities of the Asiatic Society and sought his cooperation as the chief patron of the society.
They also requested President Zillur Rahman to inaugurate the Bi-Annual General Meeting of the Society, to be held in January 2010.
The President gave the delegation a patient hearing and assured his all-out support to the overall activities of the society.
The delegation presented a set of their research publications to the President after the meeting.
