President, secretary of JAAFSC selected

FE Report | Thursday, 31 July 2008

Nepal and Bangladesh have been selected president and secretary general of the newly formed JICA Alumni Associations' Forum of SAARC Countries (JAAFSC).

Chandi Prasad Shrestha, president of JICA Alumni Association of Nepal and Md. Ejar Uddin, general secretary of JICA Alumni Association of Bangladesh have been respectively nominated for the interim committee, said a press release.

The committee would continue up to March next year until a full fledged new executive committee takes charge in April 2009 for a two-year term.

According to the constitution, JAATSC would be a 21-member body with three persons representing from each country of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal and Pakistan. The body would, however, be expanded to 24 members shortly after the joining of Afghanistan, the new member of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), which has yet to form its country JICA alumni association.
