President seeks Croatian investments in Bangladesh

President Zillur Rahman has urged the Croatian investors to invest in Bangladesh availing the existing investment-friendly atmosphere of the country.
The President made the call Monday when newly appointed Croatian Ambassador Dr Boris Velic presented his credentials to the President at Bangabhaban, reports UNB.
The president said the present government would extend its all-out cooperation if Croatia comes up to increase the trade volume through more investment.
"Croatian importers may import more Bangladeshi products particularly leather goods, ceramic wares and pharmaceuticals," he added.
Zillur Rahman also urged the Croatian government to recruit workers from the country.
Ambassador Dr Boris assured that he would try at his level best to increase the volume of trade and commerce between the two countries during his tenure.
Citing Bangladesh as member of Non-aligned Movement (NAM), he said Croatia, as member of NAM, was very much interested in strengthening the bilateral relations with Bangladesh.
The Ambassador laid emphasis on visits of trade delegations between the two countries which would open areas of cooperation in the field of trade and commerce.
"I will try to sign a MoU to raise trade volume through visits of high level delegations," said Dr Boris, also former World Bank official.
Secretary to the President's Office M Safiul Alam, Foreign Secretary Mijarul Quayes, Military Secretary Major Gen Abul Kalam M Humayun Kabir and Press Secretary AKM Nesar Uddin Bhuiyan were also present in the meeting.
Earlier, the High Commissioner was given a guard of honour by the President's guard regiment.
