President shocked at Hiron\\\'s demise

President Abdul Hamid on Wednesday expressed deep shock at the death of Awami League MP and former mayor of Barisal City Corporation Shawkat Hossain Hiron. In a condolence message, the President said the country has lost a true patriot and dedicated politician at his death. President Hamid said Hiron had great role in the development of Barisal and his affection for the people of Barisal will ever be remembered. "The people of Barisal would remember him as an architect of development with deep respect and love," he said. Abdul Hamid prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members as well as supporters, friends and well wishers of Hiron. Shawkat Hossain Hiron died at Apollo Hospitals in the city on Wednesday morning at the age of 57. He suffered a brain hemorrhage on March 22 at Barisal Club. Since then, he had been on life support, according to UNB.
