President to visit Vietnam Aug 9-12

President M Abdul Hamid is expected to pay a state visit to Vietnam from August 9-12, during which the entire range of bilateral issues will come up for discussion, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday. Among the bilateral issues, connectivity, trade and investment, cooperation in the fields of tourism and culture, exchange of visits, etc. will be given special emphasis, it said. The visit is expected to further deepen the cordial and cooperative relations between the two countries and strengthen the ties of friendship and trust between Bangladesh and the Southeast Asian country. During the visit, which is set to take place at the invitation of his counterpart, the President is expected to hold discussions and exchange views on regional and international issues of common concern. The Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Secretary General of Communist Party, the Chairman of the People’s Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam and a business delegation of Vietnam are also expected to meet the President during the visit. The then Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet (1997), former President Tran Duc Luong (2004), and Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Dy Nien (2003) visited Bangladesh in the past, according to UNB.
