President urge French investors to invest in Bangladesh

President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed has called upon the French investors to invest in Bangladesh, reports UNB.
He also underscored the need for enhancing trade and commerce for the mutual benefit of the two countries when outgoing French Ambassador in Dhaka Jacques Andre Costilhes made a farewell call on the President at the Bangabhaban Thursday.
The President informed the envoy that the upcoming general election would be held in a free, fair and credible manner within the timeframe set by the Election Commission and he invited international observers to observe the election.
Mentioning France as the fourth largest export destination for Bangladesh products after USA, Germany and UK, President Iajuddin thanked the government of France for importing huge consignments of Bangladeshi products to their market.
He expressed satisfaction at the upward trend of French investment in Bangladesh and told the envoy that the government would provide all sorts of cooperation to the French investors in Bangladesh.
The President also emphasised on educational exchange programme for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
Referring to the outstanding contribution being made by the Bangladeshi troops in the UN peacekeeping operations, he said Bangladesh was committed to upholding international peace and harmony.
He told the French ambassador that through the process of SAARC, Bangladesh was working to promote and establish stability and development in South Asia.
President Iajuddin wished Ambassador Costilhes good health and happiness and conveyed through the ambassador his sincere wishes and best regards to the President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, and also invited him to visit Bangladesh at his convenience.
The outgoing French Ambassador stated that the existing bilateral relations between France and Bangladesh were excellent and it would be further strengthened in the days to come.
He also expressed his deep gratitude to the government and the people of Bangladesh for providing support and cooperation in discharging his duties in Bangladesh.
Ambassador Costilhes hoped that the upcoming general election of Bangladesh would be held in a free, fair and credible manner.
Military Secretary to the President Major General M Aminul Karim, Secretary M Sirajul Islam, Press Secretary Abdul Awal Howlader and concerned officials were present on the occasion.
