President urges judges to establish rule of law

President Zillur Rahman Monday urged the judges to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity, honesty and neutrality to establish the rule of law in the country, reports UNB.
"The judges can play a very important role in establishing the rule of law in the country," he said when an 11-member delegation of judges of the High Court led by Justice M Abdus Salam met him at Bangabhaban.
During the meeting, the President said the government is firmly committed to ensuring the freedom of the judiciary and providing justice to people.
He reminded the judges that they took oath for upholding the country's constitution through devoting themselves towards ensuring rule of law.
The judges apprised the President about their activities and sought his cooperation in getting their due retirement benefits.
