President Abdul Hamid on Monday urged ophthalmologists to organise regular eye camps in remote areas driven by professional pledge and responsibility towards common people with a view to reaching the eye treatment to the doorsteps of the hapless and poor. “We know treatment is a basic need of people. People -- rich and poor living in urban-rural area-- approach you (doctors) for getting necessary treatments. Most of the specialist physicians stay in the urban areas. For the reason, people living in rural areas get deprived of treatment,” he said. The President said this while addressing the fifth annual conference of Bangladesh Community Ophthalmological Society at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in the city, according to a news agency.
