President visits under-repair embankment at Mithamoin

KISHOREGANJ, Sept 18 (UNB): President Abdul Hamid visited Thursday the Kamalpur embankment at Mithamoin upazila to see the work to repair the damages it suffered over the years.
Built in 1998, parts of the 2350-metre embankment have been damaged by river erosion. Two heavily damaged parts of the embankment are being repaired.
During the visit, the President asked the authorities concerned to undertake the repair of the other damaged parts.
Chief of Army staff general Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan, Kishoreganj-2 constituency MP Suhrab Uddin, Kishoreganj-5 MP Afzal Hosain and local MP Razwan Ahmed Towfik, among others, were present during the visit.
Earlier, Abdul Hamid reached Austagram. On his way to Mithamoin from Austagram by ship, he was greeted by thousands of cheering people who lined on both banks of the river. The President also reciprocated the feelings of the people by waving hands.
At a gathering at old Dak Bungalow ground of Mithamoin upazila the President said " I have been here to tell you one thing. I was born in the area and did politics here for 54 years. So I think I need to inform you if I take any decision."
He went on saying "I have decided to perform hajj this year. Pray for me."
