Presiding officer withdrawn

An Upazila poll presiding officer has been withdrawn at Chandpur’s Shahrasti Upazila (UZ) for dereliction of duty. Md Delwar Hossain, presiding officer at the Noagaon Government Primary School centre, had been found to have breached the electoral code of conduct on Saturday night, said District Election Officer Md Ataur Rahman. Rahman, however, evaded revealing the exact nature of the charge. Another election officer said on the condition of anonymity that Hossain had dined at a candidate’s house in violation of the prescribed code. Assistant Returning Officer and Shahrasti Upazila Nirbahi Officer ATM Kauser Hossain said voting had got off to a peaceful start in the Noagaon Government Primary School centre. Md Anisur Rahman was the presiding officer at the polling station, according to bdnews24.com.
