Price changes of major commodities, energy in Beijing

BEIJING Oct. 11 (Xinhua): Key energy prices registered a slight rise in September, while steel price continued to rise and nonferrous metal prices showed small fluctuations, disclosed the State Development and Reform Commission in its latest issue of "Major Commodity Price Watch".
Steel price continued to rise. Price of major steel products were pushed up further in Sept. by factors such as rising costs and hiking international prices.
The national average price for steel wire (regular 6.5, Q235), hot rolled plate (6, Q235) and cold rolled thin plate (1, Q235) stood at 3,906 yuan/ton, 4,790 yuan/ton and 5,267 yuan/ton respectively, marking up 4.69 per cent, 4.54 per cent and 2.85 per cent respectively over the previous month.
Prices of nonferrous metals registered small fluctuations. Prices of nonferrous metals in 36 major Chinese cities showed small changes in Sept., with the average copper price standing at 66,480 yuan/ton, up 0.37 per cent month-on-month, and the average aluminium and zinc prices standing at 20,169 yuan/ton and 29,094 yuan/ton, down 1.06 per cent and 1.55 per cent respectively month- on-month.
Prices of major chemicals eased back. Key chemicals prices at 36 major Chinese cities registered slight drops in Sept., with the prices of PE, PVC and rubber falling 0.24 per cent, 0.09 per cent and 0. 15 per cent respectively to reach 13,234 yuan/ton, 7,824 yuan/ton and 20,084 yuan/ton respectively.
Major energy prices remained steady with slight rises. Average ex- plant price for coal in major coal producing provinces rose slightly to reach 443 yuan/ton in Sept., registering a month-on-month rise of 0.3 per cent, compared to August's 1.56 per cent.
In the breakdown, the prices of steam coal and coking coal averaged 321 yuan/ton and 606 yuan/ton respectively in Sept., up 0.21 per cent and 0.36 per cent month-on-month.
Wholesale prices of oil products continued to hike. As a result of rising international crude oil price, domestic wholesale prices for gasoline and diesel continued to rise in Sept.
Wholesale prices for gasoline 90#, 93# And 97# And diesel 0# paid by gas stations in 36 major Chinese cities averaged 5,631 yuan/ton, 5,913 yuan/ton, 6,266 yuan/ton and 5,257 yuan/ton respectively in Sept., representing month-on-month growths of 0.14 per cent, 0.32 per cent, 0.02 per cent and 0.10 per cent.
Meanwhile, retail prices of oil products remained August's level, with the retail prices for the four products standing at 6,055 yuan/ton, 6,421 yuan/ton, 6,787 yuan/ton and 5,490 yuan/ton respectively.
