RAJSHAHI, Sept 22: Price hike of fertilisers is causing concern among the peasants of Godagari Upazila in the district.
On the other hand, the stock of urea has run out in just one week. The price of potassium based fertiliser has increased by Tk 7.00 per kilogramme and the price of DAP increased by Tk 3.00 per kilogramme.
During the last Aush season, the farmers purchased DAP at Tk 21 and potassium at Tk 17 per kilogramme. But now they are purchasing both at Tk 24 per kilogramme.
In Godagari 15,000 hectares of land have been brought under Aush cultivation, which is almost double of last year's and 31,000 hectares of land have been brought under Aman cultivation.
Since last week, farmers did not get any fertiliser even with slips.
Meanwhile, many types of fish are now available in the markets of the district. The amount of fish is also enough.
All the rivers and beels are now full to the brim due to the recent rains and floods and thousands of fish are being caught everyday. But the prices of fish have increased though the supply is plentiful.
