Price of rice declining in Nilphamari

Our Correspondent NILPHAMARI, Oct 29: Price of rice is decreasing consistently in Nilphamari district. Market sources said overall price of all the categories of rice has fallen by to Tk 5 to 7 per kg. Reduced price of rice comes as a comfort for the low income people particularly the hard core people of this region known as poverty pocket. Sources said price of rice is expected to come down further as new early harvestable paddy BRRI 33 and BINA 7 are to come to the market by this time as the harvesting of the same has already started. When contacted one retail rice trader said average price of coarse rice which was at Tk 30 per kg is now being sold at Tk 25 and BRRI rice at Tk 28, which was Tk 36 per kg. BRRI rice 29 which was at Tk 30 per kg, is now being sold at Tk 26.
