Prices drop on less demand
Thursday, 6 August 2009
There was less demand in this week's sale as Benders/Packeteers were not as active as last week. There was also only a limited interest from the Loose tea buyers. As a result, prices dropped further for practically all varieties. There was also some withdrawals in the plainer varieties. Good liquoring Dust an easier market following less demand.
CTC Leaf: 23,355 packages and (86 packages of old season) on offer met with less demand at easier rates.
Brokens: Good liquoring Brokens met with a good demand and were only slightly easier and prices for these ranged between Tk 148 and Tk 152. Other varieties were easier following quality often by Tk 2.0 to Tk 3.0
CTC Dust: 4,013 packages and (11 packages of old season) on offer met with less demand at easier rates. Good liquoring varieties eased by Tk 2.0 to Tk 3.0 and occasionally more whilst Medium and Plainer varieties eased by up to Tk 5.0 and more with some withdrawals. Best varieties of CDs, however, were a firm market. Internet buyers lent quite a good support with some interest from the Loose tea buyers.
