Prices fall on lower competition

Friday, 31 October 2008

FE Report
There was a fair demand in sale but owing to less competition, prices declined over a broad front except the best on offer. Blenders and Packers lent a fairly good support but Loose tea buyers were less active. There was no buying on account of Pakistan and out-markets. As a result, withdrawals were larger than before particularly towards the end comprising of plainer varieties.
Good liquoring Dusts enjoyed a slightly dearer market particularly the CDs.
CTC LEAF: 26,125 packages on offer met with a fair demand at easier rates.
BROKENS: Good liquoring BOPs had a fairly strong market and were generally firm to occasionally dearer and these sold between Tk 118 and Tk 122. Smaller varieties met with a fairly good demand but eased slightly. Plainer Brokens were easier with quality.
FANNINGS: Good liquoring Fannings met with a fairly good demand and were only slightly easier and these sold between Tk 119 and Tk 122. The rest were easier by up to Tk 2.00.
CTC DUST: 4,800 packages on offer met with a slightly improved demand. CDs continued to sell well and were mostly dearer following competition. Selected few lines of good liquoring varieties were firm to occasionally dearer while all others eased slightly. Both Blenders and Loose tea buyers lent a good support.
