Prices of edible oil, pulse decline

FE Report brPrices of edible oil and pulse declined in the city's retail market while vegetables and fish maintained an upward trend during the past one week, market sources said. brThe price of loose edible oil continued to record a downward trend and was selling at Tk 110 per liter Friday. Traders said the price of edible oil might drop further in the retail level. brAccording to traders, the prices of some vegetables have marked a further rise in the city markets. During the last week, prices of a number of vegetables including ladies' finger, brinjal and cowpea increased due to fall in supply. brGreen chilli was selling at Tk 100 per kg in the city's local markets. brTraders in the city's Babubazar and Badamtoli wholesale markets said rice price remained stable due to sufficient supply in the markets and launching of open market sales (OMS) of the staple food.brPrices of chicken broiler decreased by substantially compared to that of last week. Broiler chicken was selling at Tk 115 per kg, down by 20 per kg of last week.brDuring the past one week, loose edible oils were selling at Tk 110 per liter. In the retail markets, prices of soybean oil and super palm oil were selling at Tk 103- Tk 104 per litre and Tk85-Tk 86 per litre respectively during the last one week while a five litre canned oil sold at Tk 585. brIn the city's different retail markets, local onion is still selling at Tk 40 per kg while imported ones at Tk 32 per kg. Local garlic was selling at Tk 60 per kg.brRetailers said the prices of coarse varieties of rice ranged between Tk 32-Tk 34 per kg against 34-Tk 35 per kg a week ago. They, however, said prices of finer varieties of rice remained unchanged at their previous rates of Tk 36-Tk 46 per kg.brDuring the period, ruhi fish was selling at Tk 280 per kg, small-sized shrimp at Tk 450 per kg, medium-sized hilsha at Tk 400 per kg. Beef was selling at Tk 200 per kg and mutton at Tk 320 per kg at the retail level. brImported lentils were selling at Tk 98 per kg, down by Tk 7 per kg, local lentil at Tk 108 per kg, down by Tk 5 per kg. Prices of flour was Tk 38 per kg in the city's local markets. Traders said potato was selling at Tk 18, cucumber at Tk 32, tomato at Tk 70, Brinjal at Tk 50-Tk 55 per kg, ladies finger at Tk 32 per kg, and Patal at 26 per kg. brPer dozen egg was selling at Tk 78-84 at the retail level against its previous rates of Tk 75 -Tk 78.
