Prices of essentials except green chilli stable in city

The prices of essentials including vegetables remained almost stable in the city markets, while the price of green chilli is showing an upward trend, a market report of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) said in the city Saturday, reports BSS.
The price of coarse rice in different markets, including Kamalapur, New Market, Karwanbazar, Kalyanpur, Kachukhet and Mohammadpur, ranged between Taka 22 and Taka 26 per kg Saturday.
In Kolkata, the report said, per kg coarse rice is being sold at a price equivalent to Taka 19.64.
A packet of one-kg flour is being sold between Tk 31 and 34 in ordinary city markets. In Kolkata, flour is being sold at Tk 25 per kg, the report added.
The price of imported lentil (mashur) is between Taka 62 and Tk 68 per kg in ordinary markets, while in Kolkata, the price of lentil is equivalent to Tk 55.35 per kg.
Imported gram (chhola) is being sold at a price ranging between Tk 63 and 65 per kg in different retail markets.
In Kolkata, the item is being sold at a price equivalent to Tk 51.80.
Sugar is being sold at Tk 28 to 30 per kg in ordinary city markets compared to Tk 25 in Kolkata.
Onion (imported) is being sold at Tk 30 to 34 per kg in ordinary city markets, while its price in Kolkata is equivalent to Taka 19.64.
The price of green chilli, however, is ranging from Tk 120 to 180 per kg in ordinary city markets. The price of green chilli in Kolkata is equivalent to Tk 71.42.
The potato is being sold at prices ranging between Tk 20 and 22 per kg in all the ordinary markets. In Kolkata, the price of the item is equivalent to Tk 16.07.
Soybean oil is being sold at Taka 80 per litre in ordinary markets. In Kolkata, the price of soyabean oil is Tk 108.92 per litre.
Palm oil is being sold at Tk 78 per litre in ordinary markets. In Kolkata, the price of palm oil is Tk 101.78 per litre, the report added.
