Prices of essentials mark sharp rise in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 16: Prices of essentials have risen in the city markets once again while there was a slight fall in price of rice during the weekend.
After visiting different kitchen markets, this correspondent found that the price of chilli which was sold at Tk 18 per kilogramme has risen to Tk 28 per kg. The prices of other vegetables and spices have risen by Tk 2 Tk 4 per kg. On Friday, brinjal was sold at Tk 18 per kg, papaya was sold at Tk 8, 'borboti' at Tk 18, 'korolla' at Tk 20 per kg, 'jhinga' at Tk 10, 'kakrol' at Tk 20, 'potol' at Tk 10, cucumber at Tk 10, ladi finger at Tk 16, 'sajina data' at Tk 30, pumpkin and gourd at Tk 10 Tk 12 per piece, onion at Tk 16 per kg, potato at Tk 20 per kg, ginger at Tk 30 per kg and garlic at Tk 60 per kg.
The price of mustard oil rose by Tk 8.00 per kilogramme during last seven days. Mustard oil per litre is now selling at Tk 100. The prices of gram and lentil have also risen by Tk 10 per kg. The prices of various varieties of fish have marked a steep rise in the city markets. A kilogramme of hilsha is being sold at Tk 300 to Tk 350 in the city markets.
