Prices of essentials stable in city markets: BDR

Prices of the essential commodities are static in the city markets like the past several days, a market review report of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) said in the city Saturday, reports BSS.
BDR itself runs and facilitates operation of several makeshift open markets in the capital city.
The report, quoting the prices of essentials in Kolkata (West Bengal), said the price level of the coarse rice ranged from Tk 19 to Tk 22 per kilogram (kg) at different ordinary markets, while it was Tk 19 at the BDR-facilitated open markets and Tk 18 in the BDR-run markets in the city.
In Kolkata, the price of same categories of rice is Tk 19.30 per kg in Bangladesh currency equivalent, the report said.
The wheat flour sold in packets priced between Tk 25 and Tk 27 per kg at ordinary city markets, while it was available at Tk 24 at BDR-facilitated open markets and BDR-run markets. In Kolkata, the price of the item is Tk 19.30.
Imported lentil price ranged between Tk 54 and Tk 60 per kg in ordinary markets, while it was sold at Tk 53 at BDR-run markets. BDR-facilitated markets sold the locally produced lentils at Tk 64 per kg, while pulse in Kolkata markets was available at Tk 56.14.
The sugar priced from Tk 29 to Tk 32 per kg in ordinary markets compared to Tk 28.90 in Kolkata, while the commodity was found at Tk 28 in BDR-facilitated markets, the report said.
The price of green chilli, however, was relatively high in ordinary city markets with prices ranging between Tk 36 and Tk 50 per kg, while it was sold at Tk 40 both at BDR-facilitated and BDR-run markets. In Kolkata, green chilli price was Tk 30 per kg Saturday.
Soybean oil in ordinary markets was selling at between Tk 72 and Tk 78 per litre in ordinary markets, while the BDR-facilitated and BDR-run markets sold the item at Tk 70 and Tk 67.50 respectively. In Kolkata, the price of soybean oil Saturday was Tk 102 per litre.
