Prices of fish, meat, vegetables up

Prices of fish, meat, and some vegetables witnessed a fresh hike on Friday compared to that of its previous level.
Onion, ginger, garlic prices registered a slight reduction while chilli prices upped on the day.
Fish of different species both of farm and indigenous further increased significantly in a week by-Tk100-200 at per kg.
Tengra (live) fish was sold at Tk1000-1050 per kg in different kitchen markets on Friday, a record high in the country's history, according to traders.
Puti, considered  a cheaper fish, was sold at Tk350-500 per kg based on size while Gulsha at Tk600-650 per kg.
Pabda, Shrimp, Kajoli fish were sold at Tk800-1200 per kg while Shoul was sold at Tk350-450 per kg.
Consumers bought riverian Rui and Katla fish at Tk600-650 per kg on the day.
Hilsa of different sizes also witnessed a Tk100-120 hike at per piece or per kg.
Md Sharif Hossain, a fish retailer at Banalata Kitchen Market under Newmarket area told the FE that fish prices have been experiencing a record hike in recent times.
He said fish collection from major rivers, haor and beels  declined significantly in recent months which has caused the hike specially of indigenous fish.
He said prices of farm Rui, Katla, Pangash, Koi, Tilapia also increased by Tk40-50 per kg.   
Beef prices increased by Tk10-20 per kg as sold at Tk400-410 per kg on Friday while buffalo meat was sold at Tk370-380 per kg.
Prices of mutton also witnessed a Tk20 hike in a week while broiler chicken price also increased by Tk5 per kg.
Prices of vegetables including bitter gourd, teasle gourd, pointed gourd, radish increased by Tk10-20 per kg in last seven days.
Bitter gourd was sold at Tk60-65, teasle gourd at Tk55-60, radish at Tk45-50 per kg on the day.
However, prices of onion declined by Tk2-3 per kg. Local varieties were sold at Tk40-42 and Indian imported varieties at Tk28-32 per kg.
Prices of ginger eased by Tk10-15 pr kg. Local variety was sold at Tk100-105 while imported Chinese variety at Tk115-120 per kg on the day.
Garlic of local variety sold at Tk60-70 while imported variety was sold at Tk80-85 per kg on Friday.
