Prices of green chilli, pulses rise

Prices of green chilli and pulses increased while that of onion and edible oil witnessed a fall during the past one week in the city's retail market that remained mostly stable.
Prices of other essentials including rice and flour remained unchanged during the period. Prices of some fruits increased in the city market.
According to the traders, the price of both non-brand and brand edible oil continued to record a downward trend and non-brand soyabean oil was selling at Tk 105 per litre while brand oil at 112 per litre.
Traders said 'Zira Nazir', a special variety of Nazirshil has increased by Tk 30 per maund (37.300 kg) to Tk 1600 per maund at the wholesale level.
The Minicate variety of rice was selling at Tk 44-Tk 45 per kg and Nazirshail at Tk 44 -Tk 48 per kg against Tk 42-Tk 43 and Tk 40-Tk 44 respectively a week ago.
Coarse varieties of rice, especially BR-28, were selling at Tk 38-Tk 39 per kg against Tk 39-Tk 41 per kg in the previous week.
At wholesale level, the price of Minicate variety of rice remained unchnged at Tk 1500 -Tk 1520 per maund (37.300 kg) during the last week.
Besides, BR-28, widely consumed by low-income people, was selling at Tk1250-Tk 1260 per maund, which was selling at Tk 1230 during the previous week at the wholesale level.
Traders said prices of some vegetables including tomato and brinjal declined slightly due mainly to a adequate supply. Price of green chilli went up by Tk 40 per kg Friday and was selling at Tk 120 per kg.
Price of broiler chicken remained unchanged at Tk 115.
Local onion was selling at Tk 30 per kg while imported Indian onion was selling at Tk 22 per kg. Local garlic was selling at Tk 40 per kg.
Ruhi fish was selling at Tk 270 per kg, small-sized shrimp at Tk 450 per kg, medium-sized hilsha at Tk 400 per kg. Beef was selling at Tk 200 per kg while mutton at Tk 300 per kg.
Price of flour has decreased by Tk 1-2 per kg during past one week and was selling at Tk 36 per kg.
Imported lentils were selling at Tk 105 per kg and local lentil at Tk 110 per kg which were selling about Tk. 10 per kg less. Per kg potato was selling at Tk 16, cucumber at Tk 32, tomato at Tk 60, brinjal at Tk 42, ladies finger at Tk 28 and Patal at 20.
Price of eggs remained unchanged and a dozen of eggs was selling at Tk 76-80.
Eggs were selling at Tk 70-74 per dozen in city markets which were Tk.76-80 a week ago.
Mangoes were selling between TK 120-200 per kg, grapes at Tk 400 per kg, and apple at Tk 140 per kg
