Prices of milk, meat, spices, pilau rice rise ahead of Eid

Prices of liquid milk, meat, spices and pilao rice increased in the city's retail market as the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration draws closer, traders said Friday.
Besides, prices of different varieties of rice remained almost unchanged but prices of imported onion, atta and edible oil have recorded a downward trend during the past one-week.
Price of liquid milk increased by Tk6-Tk8 per litre and one litre of liquid milk (milkvita) was selling at Tk 55, which was Tk 48 per litre a week ago because of high demand ahead of Eid.
Market sources said the prices of beef, mutton and poultry birds went up in the city markets with the Eid-ul-Fitr nearing.
According to the traders, prices of beef, mutton and poultry birds were Tk 200-Tk220 per kg, Tk 280-Tk 350 per kg and Tk 125 -Tk 130 per kg respectively during the week.
Garam Masalah was selling between Tk 200 and Tk 500 per kg while Elachi was Tk 1200 per kg against its previous rate of Tk 1100 per kg at the city's retail level. Price of pilao rice increased by Tk 5-Tk10 per kg and was selling between Tk 110 and Tk 115.
Sources said prices of brand and loose edible oil continued to record downward trend and good quality loose soybean oil was selling at Tk 105-108 per litre while loose super palm oil at Tk 70-75 per litre at the city's retail level.
Prices of some vegetables including cucumber and brinjal increased in the retail level. Green chilli was selling at Tk 40 per kg. Potato was selling at Tk 16, brinjal at Tk 42 per kg, ladies finger at Tk 28 per kg, cucumber was selling at Tk 40 per kg and Patal at 20 per kg.
Price of imported onion declined and a kg of imported onion was selling at Tk 16. But price of local onion remained unchanged. A kg local onion was selling at Tk 32. Local garlic was selling at Tk 40 per kg.
Prices of rice remained stable in the city's retail market and lata was selling at Tk 35 per kg, pari at Tk 35- Tk36 per kg, miniket Tk 42-Tk 43 per kg and najirshail at Tk 37-42 per kg.
Flour was selling at Tk 36 per kg and atta at Tk 32 per kg. Gram was selling at Tk 55 per kg.
During the past one week, imported lentils were selling between Tk 88-Tk 92 per kg while local lentil between Tk 95-Tk 115 per kg.
Prices of fish remained almost unchanged in the retail level. Ruhi fish was selling at Tk 290 per kg, a medium-sized hilsha at Tk 450 per kg and small-sized shrimp at Tk 550 per kg,
