Prices of rice increasing in Jessore markets

JESSORE, July 04: Prices of different varieties of rice increased further without any reason in the district.

The price of sack of rice soared up by Tk 150 or more in a week in wholesale markets, while prices of different varieties of rice increased by Tk 1.00-Tk 3.00 per kg.

On visiting different markets in the district, it was seen that different varieties of rice were selling at Tk 150 more than that of a week ago in the wholesale markets, while the retailers were selling a kg of rice at Tk 1.00 to Tk 3.00 more than that of a few days back.

In local markets, coarse rice was selling at Tk 3200, while different varieties of 'miniket' rice were being sold at Tk 3700 to Tk 3900 per tonne.

BR-28 was selling at Tk 3400 to Tk 3600 per tonne.

This variety of rice was sold at Tk 34-Tk 36 per kg in the retail markets.

While talking to the FE, Md Ishaq, a local businessman, could not show the reason for the soaring price of rice.

The wholesalers are increasing the prices of rice day by day without any reason.

In the retail markers, coarse rice was seen selling at Tk 33 per kg Thursday. The variety was sold at Tk 32 Wednesday.
