Prices of vegetables coming down

The prices of vegetables in city markets started to come down gradually with the receding of floodwaters in different areas of the country, reports BSS.
Besides, the price of green chilli, which went up sharply early in the week, came down further, as the price was ranging between Tk 140 and 170 at different retails markets in the city.
The prices of essentials including rice and flour have remained almost static a market report of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) said the city Saturday.
The price of coarse rice in different markets in the city including Kamalapur, New Market, Karwan Bazar, Kalyanpur, Kachukhet and Mohammadpur ranged between Tk 22 and Tk 24 per kg.
Rice is being sold at Tk 22 at BDR-run open markets and Tk 19 at BDR-run sales centres. In Kolkata, the report said, coarse rice is sold at a price equivalent to Tk 19.90 per kg.
Packet of one-kg flour is being sold between Tk 28 and Tk 33 at ordinary city markets, while the price of the item is Tk 30 at BDR-run open markets and Tk 26 at BDR-run sales centres. In Kolkata, flour is sold for Tk 25.45 per kg, the report said.
The price of lentil (mashur), imported from Turkey, is between Tk 60 and Tk 64 per kg at ordinary markets, while it is being sold at Tk 64 at BDR-run open markets and Tk 54 at BDR-run sales centres. In Kolkata, the price of the lentil is Tk 54.54 per kg.
Gram (Chhola), imported, is being sold at a price ranging between Tk 56 and Tk 62 per kg at different retail ordinary markets, but Tk 60 at BDR-run open market. In Kolkata, the item is being sold equivalent to Tk 52.72.
Sugar is being sold at Tk 28 to Tk 30 per kg at ordinary markets compared to Tk 25.45 in Kolkata and Tk 28 at BDR-run open markets.
Onion (imported) is being sold at Tk 27 to Tk 30 per kg at ordinary city markets, while its price in Kolkata markets is Tk 21.81. Onion is being sold at Tk 27 at BDR-run open markets.
The price of green chilli, however, is ranging from Tk 140 to Tk 170 per kg at ordinary city markets. The item is sold at Tk 140 at BDR-run open markets. The price of green chilli in Kolkata market is equivalent to Tk 102.
The potato is being sold at Tk 20 per kg in all the ordinary markets. The price of potato at BDR-run open market is sold at Tk 19 and BDR sales centre at Tk 18. In Kolkata, market the price of the item is equivalent to Tk 16.36.
Soyabean oil is being sold at Tk 74 to 85 per litre at ordinary markets while it is available at Tk 76 at BDR-run open markets and BDR-run sales centres. In Kolkata, the price of Soyabean oil is Tk 85.45 per litre.
Palm oil is being sold at Tk 72 per litre at ordinary markets, while it was available at Tk 67.50 at BDR-run sales centres. In Kolkata, the price of palm oil is Tk 81.81 per litre, the report added.
