Prices up at DSE, CSE

Share prices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed upward trend in early hours of trading on Wednesday, the fourth trading day of the week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 20.56 points or 0.45 per cent to stand at 4,547.50 points within first 30 minutes of trading when the report was filled at 11am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 7.26 points or 0.44 per cent to reach at 1,625.76 points. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also up by 4.70 points or 0.47 per cent to stand at 992.29 points. DSE turnover stood at Tk 446 million when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 122 advanced, 44 declined and 23 remained unchanged. Lafarge Surma Cement was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 82 million changing hands till then followed by Usmania Glass, Delta Spinners, Familytex (BD) and Eastern Housing. The port city bourse – the CSE – also witnessed positive trend at opening with its Selective Category Index --- CSCX gaining 18.97 points or 0.22 per cent to stand at 8,772.90 points, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 31 gained, 27 declined and 13 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 30.52 million.
