The prime accused in Mymensingh four-murder case on Thursday reportedly confessed to his involvement in the killings. Miscreants chopped to death Rafiqul Islam Bachchu, general secretary of Habirbari union unit of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, his wife Parul Akhter and their two daughters – Jiniya Akhter, 6, and Rima Akhter – in their house in Bhaluka Upazila on December 16. Detectives arrested main accused Hafizur Rahman Tanu, 25, a helper of a bus owned by slain Bachchu, from Togni in Gazipur district early Thursday. Tipped off, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted a drive at Ershad Nagar in Tongi early in the morning and arrested Tanu. He was taken to the district DB office for interrogation. During interrogation, Tanu confessed that he chopped and strangled Bachchu and three members of his family to death as Bachchu did not repay him (Tanu) Tk 80,000 which he had lent him one-and-half-year ago for purchasing a vehicle. Bachchu’s father, Wares Ali, filed the murder case with Bhaluka Model Police Station on the fateful day against five people. On December 17, police arrested three youths in connection with the killings, according to a news agency.
