Prime Bank Foundation to launch English medium school

Prime Bank Foundation will launch an English medium school styled 'Prime Campus' on August 31 to promote quality education in the country.

"We're going to start 'Prime Campus' to create skilled human resource through providing international standard education," said Azam J Chowdhury, chairman of Prime Bank Limited and Prime Bank Foundation while addressing the award giving ceremony under its education support programme at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in the city Tuesday.

The proposed English medium school will be set up in Uttara and Father Benjamin Costa, Principal of Notre Dame College, will take the charge as Principal.

Apart from commercial banking operation, Prime Bank Limited through its Foundation is simultaneously playing a pivotal role in the society as part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR).

Under the CSR, Prime Bank Foundation (PBF), established in 2002, is providing poor but meritorious students with stipend through 'Education Support Programme' which was launched in 2007.

This year a total of 120 students from different educational institutions of the country were given monthly stipends for the persuasion of their study. The students will receive Tk 1800 per month up to their graduation level studies.

Students who secure GPA 4.98 in SSC and HSC and have family's earning below Tk 4500 per month are eligible for applying for the Education Support Programme.

"It's a pilot project for five years. Hopefully, we will continue to help country's poor and deprived section of students to ensure successful completion of their education life," Mr. Azam said.

On the occasion, Father Benjamin Costa appreciated the Prime Bank Limited's Education Support Programme and said that these activities would reduce the commercialisation of education.

Among others, deputy managing director of the bank Mahbubul Alam, Dr. Iqbal Anwar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PBF, Mohammad Aminul Haque, Chairman of executive committee of PBF were present on the occasion.
