Prime Bank gets 'Best Bank in South Asia' award

Prime Bank (PB) Ltd has been awarded the 'Best Bank in South Asia' in terms of the best presented accounts in 2008 by the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA).
"Prime Bank won the best bank award among the SAARC countries in the banking category," Ehsanul Haque, managing director of PBL said Sunday at a press conference in the city.
SAFA Best Presented Accounts Award 2008 is not only an award for PBL but an hounour for the professional institutions and organisations of the country, he said.
He also added that the award is an indicator of improvement of reporting performance by the bank which was awarded SAFA Merit Awards for the year 2004, 2005 and 2006 and SAFA Bronze Award for the year of 2007.
PBL won the award for financial soundness, good governance, compliance with rules and regulations, adherence to international accounting standards, transparency and adequacy of disclosures in financial statements and liquidity, he explained.
Gradually the bank has been turning into the best bank from a better bank through its performance, he added while explaining the activities of the bank for the last 14 years.
The bank has registered operating profit of Tk 3.95 billion (Tk 395 crore) up to September 2009 registering 24 per cent growth over the corresponding period of the last year.
As per the demands and the customers' needs, the bank is trying to take the bank toward the best standards of customer services, he added.
PBL Deputy Managing Directors Md Mehmood Husain and Reazul Karim and Head of Human Resources and Marketing Division Tabarak Hossain Bhuiyan, among others, were present in the programme.
