Prime Bank holds seminar on role of zakat

Prime Bank Limited (PBL) Islamic Banking branch organised a seminar on 'role of zakat in fair distribution of wealth' in a city conference centre Saturday.
Chairman of the bank Azam J Chowdhury was present on the occasion as the chief guest, while Executive Committee Chairman M Aminul Haque was present as the special guest.
Managing Director (MD) of the bank M Shahjahan Bhuiyan presided over the seminar.
Azam J Chowdhury, in his speech, emphasised the creation of awareness on zakat and its distribution among the Muslim community. Religious leaders should come forward to creating the awareness and ensure distribution under an organised institutional framework to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, he added.
The MD, in his speech, said, "the month of Ramadan guides us to social economic justice. It teaches us to practise and implement the teachings of Islam in our daily life and inspires us to achieve peace, brotherhood and patience".
Shariah Council members of the bank Mohammad Salahuddin, Emdadul Haque Araihazari and Abul Kalarn Azad, and Darul Ahsan University professor Ahmed Abdul Qader participated in the discussion.
Mirpur branch Manager of the bank and SAVP Md Shahidul Islam and senior executives were present, among others, on the occasion.
