Princess Zahra visits Aga Khan School

Princess Zahra Aga Khan, Head of the Social Welfare Department (SWD) of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), has visited the Aga Khan School in Dhaka. Princess Zahra, the eldest child of Aga Khan, also addressed the students of the school on the occasion of its 25th anniversary on Friday afternoon. The programme was attended by students and teachers of the Aga Khan School as well as officials of the Aga Khan Development Network and the Ismaili Council, a media release has said. Aga Khan School Dhaka, which was established in 1988, is part of an international network of 240 schools of the Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) present in South Asia, Central Asia and East Africa. During her visit to the school, Princess Zahra walked through all three sections of the school and toured classrooms, laboratories and other facilities where she spoke with students, teachers and the leadership of the school about the importance of education and upcoming developments. Later in the day, Princess Zahra met with leaders of the Aga Khan Development Network in Bangladesh at the Ismaili Jama’tkhana and Centre, Dhaka, to discuss the work of the institutions. In the evening, Princess Zahra, also a member of the Board of Trustees of Aga Khan University, addressed the youths of the Ismaili community and attended a dinner with the Ismaili leadership of the country, according to a news agency.
