Printmaking workshop, art exhibition underway in city

A 10-day printmaking workshop and art exhibition titled "Muragimo/Heart" began at Cosmos Centre in city's Malibagh area Friday, reports UNB.
Chief Information Commissioner Mohammad Zamir inaugurated the event.
Chairman of University Grants Commission Prof Nazrul Islam, High Commi-ssioner of Canada in Bangladesh Robert McDougall, Ambassador of Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka Tassanawadee Miancharoen, Chairman of Gallery Cosmos and CosmosAtelier71 Print-making Studio Enayetullah Khan, Counselor of Embassy of Sweden Ylva Sorman Nath, senior artists and cultural personalities attended the event.
They congratulated and encouraged the participants to work with the visiting artist for a period of ten days to work, exchange ideas, skills and further their professional development.
Prof Nazrul said "It's a unique opportunity for learning, experimentation in new techniques for the participants".
Muhammad Zamir ex-plained the history of Japanese and Bangladeshi fine arts as well as printmaking. He also encouraged ongoing positive cultural activities all over the country and Cosmos's role in supporting it.
The visiting Japanese artist Fudezuka Toshihisa will conduct a 10-day "water based wood block printmaking technique" at the printmaking studio.
Some 30 art works of Fudezuka Toshihisa will be exhibited at the Gallery Cosmos until March 5.
