Friday, 28 November 2008

Awami League (AL) president and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina said her party, if voted to power, would give utmost priority to production of foodgrains to ensure food security, reports BSS.
While exchanging views with leaders of Sammilita Sangskritik Jote (SSJ) at her Dhanmondi office, she said only the Awami League can give people relief of the suffering of price spiral.
"Awami League proved that it kept the prices of the essentials stable during its rule," she said.
Praising the role of the cultural activists in the country's liberation war and democratic movements, Sheikh Hasina said they would also play important role in the next election.
President of the SSJ Nasir Uddin Yusuf Bachchu, General Secretary Golam Quddus, Ramendu Majumder, Mamunur Rashid and Aly Zaker, among others, were present.
Sheikh Hasina alleged that dilly-dallying tactics and conspiracy are going against the election. The election schedule has been deferred in the interest of a quarter, she added.
