Private entrepreneurs urged to invest in tourism sector

Private entrepreneurs have been urged to come forward to invest in the country's tourism sector.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister GM Qader made the appeal while speaking at a function organised by the 'World View' in the city Thursday, saying that the present government is working on a priority basis to boost the tourism sector, reports BSS.
The government is formulating a new law to build the tourism industry in a planned way to attract tourists, the minister told the function.
"The government has taken various steps to provide increased facilities to the tourists including comfortable and improved communication network, security and entertainment," he added.
The tourism industry is expanding in the world, the minister said adding that the government decided to observe the 'Tourism Year in 2011' to highlight the country's tourism sector on the world stage.
The tourism minister said the tourism sector could flourish quickly in the country if it was possible to build a social tourism movement. He said a large number of people could be involved in the sector.
The function was also addressed, among others, by Secretary in-Charge of the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry Shafiq Alam Mehedi, Chairman of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation Hamayet Uddin Talukder and Prof Dr Ashraful Islam Chowdhury.
World View Editor Advocate Kazi Raquibul Islam presided over the function.
