Private varsity student shot dead at Daulatdia

A student of a private university was shot dead and one of his friends received bullet injuries in an attack by some miscreants at Daulatdia at Goalunda Upazila of Rajbari on Sunday. The dead is Saiful Islam Ripon, 21, an honors final year student of the Law Department of Daffodil University in Dhaka. Goalunda Ghat Police Station officer-in-charge Abdul Khalek said a gang of miscreants shot Ripon and his friend Farid Sheikh from point blank range in Daulatdia red light area (brothel) around 3am, leaving him dead on the spot and Farid, 22, injured. Farid was rushed to a local hospital, according to a news agency.
