Pro-AL blue panel sweeps DUTA polls

Pro-Awami League blue panel has won the elections of Dhaka University Teachers' Association (DUTA) bagging 11 posts out of 15 that was held at the university's Teachers' Club Thursday.
The blue panel convener Professor Anwar Hossain also incumbent president of the association was elected as the president for the second time defeating Prof Tajmeri SA Islam by 61 votes and Prof Wahiduzzaman of Institute of Education and Research (IER) was elected secretary from the same panel defeating Prof Abul Hasnat of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology department by 26 votes.
Election Commissioner Prof Mokbulur Rahman announced the result Thursday afternoon.
Prof ABM Faroque was elected vice president, Prof Kamal Uddin Ahmed treasurer and Dr Sabita Rizwana Rahman as joint secretary from the panel.
Other elected executive committee members of the blue panel included Prof Abul Barakat, Prof Nasreen Ahmed, Prof Fakhrol Alam, Dean of Social Science Faculty Dr Farid Uddin Ahmed, Prof Dr Akhtaruzzaman and Prof Dr Shaheed Akhter Hussain.
Pro-BNP white panel won four executive committee member posts---Dean of Arts Faculty Prof Dr Sadrul Amin, Prof Dr Laila Nur Islam, Prof Dr ABM Obaidul Islam and Syndicate Member Dr Lutfor Rahman.
