Pro-BNP, AL lawyers hold programmes
Tuesday, 10 February 2015
Pro-BNP and Awami League (AL)-leaning lawyers organised parallel programmes on the former's demand to halt the High Court proceedings in view of the ongoing political turmoil, reports bdnews24.com.
Anti-government lawyers visited different courts under the umbrella of 'Ainjibi Samity' (lawyers' association) on Monday demanding the pause due to lack of security amid the transport blockade and a series of strikes.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the BNP-controlled association on Sunday.
Meanwhile, lawyers supporting the government termed the decision unlawful and held protests in front of the room of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's advisor Khandker Mahbub Hossain, who is the head of the association.
Awami League MP Abdul Matin Khasru and Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh took part in the protests.
