JU CORRESPONDENT | Thursday, 15 June 2023

The Jatiyatabadi Shikkhak, Kamrmakarta O Karmachari Forum, an organisation for pro-BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) teachers, officers and employees, formed a human chain on the Jahangirnagar University campus on Wednesday to press for holding the national election under a non-partisan and impartial caretaker government.
At the programme held near the Central Shahid Minar of the university at 11.00am, they blamed widespread corruption, mismanagement, escalating commodity prices and frequent power outages on the government's failure.
Professor Shamsul Alam Selim of the Department of Government and Politics, who is member secretary of the Forum, moderated the programme.
Deputy Registrar (Estate) and Vice-President of the JU Officers' Association Abdur Rahman Babul said, "We are certain that a fair election cannot take place while this government is in power. At any cost we must establish a caretaker government. Whichever government comes to power, must have to come through a democratic process."
Prof Dr Sayed Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan of the Department of Archaeology, also convener of the organisation, said, "They have abolished the caretaker government. People have lost confidence in the last few elections. There is no relief unless
this fascist government is ousted."
