Sunday, 25 May 2014
Pro-BNP lawyers started boycott of court proceedings on Sunday morning in protest against police obstruction to hold rally at Supreme Court premises. Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum brought out a protest procession at Bar Bhaban in the city around 10:00am. The gate to enter the Supreme Court from the Bar Association building was kept locked. The boycott programme is likely to continue until 1:00pm. The Ainjibi Forum on Saturday announced a 5-day programme, including court boycott on Sunday, in protest against police obstruction to their scheduled rally on the SC premises. Forum president Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah declared the programme from a rally held at National Press Club (NPC). Being barred by the police from holding its protest rally at the SC, the pro-BNP lawyers held the programme at the NPC on Saturday. The other programme includes bringing out black-flag processions on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday while forming human chains at bar associations across the country on Tuesday, according to a news agency.
