Pro-BNP teachers’ panel boycotts RUTA election

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Mar 14: Some Pro-BNP teachers of the Rajshahi University (RU) under the banner of Jatiyatabadi Teachers Parishad declared to boycott the upcoming election of Rajshahi UniversityTeachers Association (RUTA).
In a statement, signed by President of the Jatiyatabadi Teachers Parishad Prof. Nazrul Islam Mian, declared the decision Friday evening.
"We are deeply concerned over the current political turmoil, economic
distress and undemocratic behaviour of the ruling party," the statement said.
"Murders, extra- judicial killings and arrest panic are increasing day by day. All educational institutions of the country including the universities have been gripped by the worst situation."
"In view of the prevailing circumstances, RU Jatiyatabadi Teachers Parishad declared to boycott the election, which is not significant now," the statement added.
