The probe body has found direct involvement of a teacher of a university admission-coaching centre in the fake admission process at Dhaka University.
"We have identified Kiran, a teacher of University Coaching Centre (UCC), directly involved with the syndicate of fake admission", a member of the investigation committee in this regard told this correspondent Wednesday on condition of anonymity.
The nine-member probe committee has been able to identify Kiran who is an outsider as one of the kingpins of the fake admission racket according to a written statement submitted by a fake student to the committee showing all documents affirming the obvious involvement of Kiran in this malpractice, the member added.
On the other hand, the committee has detected 13 more fake students at various departments bring the total of such students to 211.
Only seven out of the earlier found 144 fake students have replied to the show cause notices by the probe body till Wednesday, the last day of submitting admission documents in favour of the bogus students.
When contacted, probe body head Pro VC AFM Yusuf Haider said the committee asked the law-enforcing agencies to apprehend the persons implicated in fake admission and take legal action against them as well.
He, however, said the probe body would place an 8-point recommendation to the forthcoming syndicate meeting to strictly curb the practices of fake admission at the university.
Asked to know the next steps of the university, Vice Chancellor Prof SMA Faiz said the syndicate would decide what type of action to be taken against the evidently identified fake students.
He reiterated that the university authorities are determined to detect each and every case of fake admission in order to root out this malpractice from the university forever.
