Probe cop\\\'s sexual harassment of girl: HC

The High Court has directed for conducting investigation by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police into the sexual harassment of a girl by a policeman in Pirojpur district. An HC bench comprising justices Mirza Hussain Haider and Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarker passed the order on Tuesday afternoon. Police has also been asked to submit the probe report before the bench on May 20. The HC bench also ordered the police super of Pirojpur to keep the case under special watch. Earlier, on March 19, the HC asked Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Abdur Rahman of Pirojpur’s Nazirpur Police Station, two madrasa teachers Mojahidul Islam Miah Jafar and Asim Mistri of Pirojpur to appear before the court on April 8. As per the HC order, police produced the ASI and madrasa teacher Mojahidul Islam before it yesterday. Following a writ petition filed in the form of public interest litigation, the court had also issued a rule upon the government to explain as to why the torture of two teenagers, violation of the girl by them and forcing the teenagers into child marriage should not be declared illegal. Ain O Salish Kendra filed the writ attaching a report tiled, “Girl goes thru’ horrific abuse”, published in a national daily recently, according to a news agency.
