Investigators of Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Thursday formally submitted its report to the prosecution, recommending the banning of Jamaa-e-Islami for its role during Bangladesh’s independence struggle 43 years ago. Investigating Officer Matiur Rahman handed the report to Chief Prosecutor Golam Arif Tipu in the morning. On Tuesday, Abdul Hannan Khan, coordinator of the ICT’s investigating agency, said the report detailing the Jamaat’s role in the War of Independence, had been finalised after a probe lasting seven months. It slapped seven charges of ‘crimes against humanity’ against Jamaat-e-Islami, setting the stage for its prosecution for its role in the 1971 Liberation War, according to bdnews24.com.
