Probe into N\\\'ganj murders \\\'at final stage\\\'

The investigation into the Narayangnaj 7-murder is nearing completion, said Deputy Secretary of the Law Ministry Mizanur Rahman Khan, a member of the probe committee, on Sunday. He said this while talking to reporters after quizzing Narayanganj ex-Superintendent of Police Syed Nurul Islam at the Ministry of Public Administration. The seven-member probe body interrogated Syed Nurul Islam from 10:10am to 1:20pm. Besides, ex-Deputy Commissioner of Narayanganj Manoj Kanti Boral was being quizzed by the probe committee when this report was filed at 3:30pm. Asked about the progress of the investigation he said, ‘Nothing could be disclosed now.’ He said the progress report over the investigation will be submitted to the High Court on June 5. On May 5, the High Court issued a suo moto rule asking the government to form a 7-member committee to investigate the abduction and killings of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC)’s panel mayor Nazrul Islam, senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker and five others last month, according to UNB.
