Probe into RMCH interns starts

Monday, 12 May 2014

An inquiry has been started into allegations against interns of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) claiming a local journalist had been denied treatment. A 4-member probe team headed by RMCH’s director Ekramul Bari met photojournalist Gulbar Ali Jewel at his home on Sunday. They recorded testimonies of Jewel and his wife Fouzia Shahnaz. The probe committee chief told reporters that they had recorded the names of witnesses given by the victim and the next step would be to identify the interns after talking to the witnesses. On May 6, RMCH interns refused to treat Jewel, the photo correspondent of bdnews24.com in Rajshahi. Following the incident, the High Court issued a rule as to why RMCH interns should not be awarded certificates. On Saturday, the 4-member panel was formed to look into the matter, according to benws24.com.
