Probe report against BFIU chief submitted

FE REPORT | Tuesday, 9 September 2025

A four-member committee, formed to investigate allegations against AFM Shahinul Islam, the head of Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), submitted its report to the government on Sunday evening, sources said.
The investigation was initiated after some "objectionable news/information (still/video images)" was published/broadcasted about BFIU chief in electronic, print, and social media.
Convenor of the investigation committee, Md Syed Kutub, additional  secretary, Financial Institutions Division (FID), told the FE on Monday that he had submitted the report to FID secretary Nazma Mobarek on time.
However, he declined to disclose the outcome of the investigation. Ms Mobarek did not respond to calls from the FE for a comment.
