Problem in RTGS causing troubles in interbank deals

The banks in the country have been facing difficulties in interbank transactions for the last few days due to a technical glitch in the central bank's server.
"There has been a technical problem, and the central bank's unit concerned is trying to solve the issue as soon as possible," Sarwar Hossain, a spokesperson for the Bangladesh Bank (BB), told the FE.
He also said the issue might have been there for several days. However, it became widely evident on Monday. An official of a private commercial bank said they faced troubles in interbank transactions due to the problem in the Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system. Major portion of the daily interbank transfers is conducted through the RTGS, he added.
