The members of the families of 7 people abducted and killed in Narayanganj in April, including the family members of slain NCC councillor Nazrul Islam, formed a human chain in Mouchak in the district demanding death penalty for prime suspect Nur Hossain, arrested in Kolkata on Saturday night. Hours after the arrest of Nur Hossain by an anti-terrorism squad of India’s West Bengal police, the family members and relatives gathered at Mouchak near Bhuigarh around 10:00am and formed a human chain. They also brought out a procession on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway. Addressing the human chain, the aggrieved family members said Nur must be brought back to Bangladesh and meted out exemplary punishment following trial. They also demanded that steps be taken to nab other accused in the two cases filed for abduction and killing of the 7 people, including Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) panel mayor Nazrul. Nur Hossain has been made prime accused in the murder case filed by slain NCC councillor Nazrul’s wife Selina Islam in May, a few days after her husband along with his driver and three aides and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver was abducted in Bhuigarh, Fatulla, on April 27. Bodies of the six abductees were found floating on Sitalakkhya and Dhaleswari rivers and another body on the following day, according to a news agency.
