Processions in city cause heavy traffic congestions

The city experienced heavy traffic congestions Saturday due to processions brought out by political parties on the last day of polls campaign 1Supporters of the candidates, who are contesting in the national polls, paraded the city streets seriously disrupting the vehicular movement.
Severe tailback in the capital's most of the thoroughfares Saturday restricted the movement of city dwellers even on the weekly holiday.
Thousands of city dwellers suffered for the traffic jams, as the transports carrying them waited at a number of points for hours. The jam intensified when traffic police blocked the road from Motsha Bhaban to Gulistan and Motijheel areas due to the grand rally of the BNP-led four party alliance.
The roads from Farmgate to Shahbagh, Science Laboratory to Shahbagh, Mohakhali to Moghbazar, Mouchak to Kuril, Shanir Akhra to Motijheel were found clogged with hundreds of vehicles. And the scenario was almost the same everywhere in the city.
